A twenty-something woman trying to figure this sh*t out

International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day. Every single day, I am thankful to be the strong woman I have become. I haven’t done this on my own, I’ve been built up and inspired by so many like-minded strong women and today, I want to celebrate these incredible women.

Nan – You told me how to take no crap and how to own my shit. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without your support and your love.

Laura Swann – You taught me to be unapologetically me and you have always given me the most support.

Mum – You have shown me how incredibly hard it is to be a mum and to still have the strength to go through tough times.

Megan Broadhurst – You have shown me the true meaning of a soulmate. You are my sister and you are one bad bitch. I envy the strength you have.

Emily Clark – You are strong and you have the kindest heart. The day you realise how amazing you are, is the day you’ll become unstoppable.

Beyonce – An icon. A queen in every, single way.

Ally Wright – You have shown me that kindness can never dull a person’s strength. Your heart is so full of love and I admire you. I am honoured to be a part of your family.

Chloe Foster – You have strength like no other. You own your shit, you know exactly who you are and I am constantly in awe of your intelligence.

Tiggy Wright – I have so much love for you. You are a young, beautiful boss and you have shown me how important it is to believe in yourself.

Pauline Roberts – Your happiness makes everything better. You have raised a family full of powerful women and that is incredible.

Emily, Hay, Lydia & Harriet – I’ve known you only a month and you have all shown me support in so many ways. I will be forever grateful for how quickly you welcomed me into your lives.

Jameela Jamil – A feminist queen.

Iskra Lawrence – Not just a curvy model, but a very important role model for me to show me how to love myself, flaws and all.

Munroe Bergdorf – For being a fierce transgender woman. An equality activist for all and for having a voice strong enough to call out anyone’s inequality bullshit.

Kim Kardashian – Constantly being criticized for her body and her looks but owning who she is. A true bad bitch.

If you are: a sexual assault survivor, a woman struggling with her mental health, a young girl being told “you can’t do that”, a woman of colour, a disabled woman, a transgender woman, a woman with dreams, a woman that feels lost, a woman in an abusive relationship, a woman raising a family, a woman running a company, a young girl confused about becoming a woman, a woman in the middle of a breakdown, a woman owning her shit, a woman not owning her shit, a woman doing anything she wants – I support you. You have my heart.
